Q & A of Wearing Silver Jewelry
Published on November 5th, 2008 In Uncategorized |  Views 59

Q: I like to wear silver rings, but something funny happens, they bend from circular to an oval overnight. What"s happening?
A: It will happen with any jewlery, regardless of the type of metal. The warmth of the hand has a little to do with it. It"s just general use of your hand. Yes, silver is a more malable metal and you will notice it sooner, but gold will bend too. It takes the shape of your finger. I work outside on my yard with my rings on and they take quite a beating so every so often I take them down to the jewler and he fixes them. Mens rings are made of 10k because that is a more durable form of gold while most womens rings are 14k. In other countries, 18k is used which is even more delicate. Anyway, it happens to all rings.

Many people like silver rings, because they are cheaper but have more choices than platinum rings. Tiffany rings also have many silver ones, it"s not a bad idea to buy one for your daughter or girlfriend"s christmas gift.

Q: Will it get ruined if I wear it in the shower or wash my hands with it?
A: I wear mine all the time(shower/swim/wash hands) and just “polish" it with silver cleaner once a month. After 13 yrs it still looks darn good. Silver will tarnish and in my experience it tarnishes faster sitting in a jewelry box or on a dresser.

Tiffany accessories like compact makeup mirror also can be perfect christmas gifts.

Q: How to polish silver?
A: The best way to polish silver is with Tarnex (check the spelling). Real silver oxidizes and you need to reverse that reaction with a chemical. Yes, you CAN DO IT BY HAND. But you"re going to get carpal tunnel syndrome. Toothpaste that doesn"t have the grit stuff in it will work. Work it in with a toothbrush and take it off with a rag and light soapy water. By the time you have done that you will have paid for the bottle of Tarnex. It may be sold under a different name now, but it should be on the web somewhere. It"s worth your money and time. If you get really stuck, just go to a coin store and get coin cleaner. You"ll be okay.

TiffanyMall provides silver tiffanys, these tiffanys include tiffany bracelets, tiffany earrings, tiffany rings, tiffany pendants, tiffany necklaces and some tiffany accessories.
